The first white men to enter Idaho are believed to be the members of the exploring party of Lewis and Clark who entered what would become Idaho on August 12, 1805.  There does not appear to be any period documentation of white men entering Idaho prior to the Lewis and Clark expedition.
There are legends of Spanish explorers entering Idaho prior to the Lewis and Clark expedition but these legends are dismissed by most Idaho historians.
